In line with the current government roadmap, we were able to resume training on Monday 29th March 2021. This is still in groups of 6 as we have done previously. Please click here to see the England Athletics roadmap in detail.

The booking spreadsheet is now live for the group runs coming up. Please read the instructions below and click on the button to book yourself on a session.
Following clearance from OMBC, to be allowed to run we have had to provide a Risk Assessment & guidance for members. As we can only run in groups of a maximum size of 6 (1 designated leader plus a maximum of 5 runners), all runners will need to book on a session in advance. If anyone is unable to do this, please contact your normal group leader who should be able to assist.

All sessions have specific (staggered) start times & will start either from the car park opposite Mazzo on Radcliffe Street (OL2 6QL) or Royton Cricket Club. The clearance from OMBC doesn't cover social gatherings, so please disperse as quickly as possible after your session has ended. Ideally we would like runners to sign up at least 24 hours in advance, so leaders know who to expect.

Please UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES just turn up to run without having signed on, as the spreadsheet will also work as our 'Track & Trace' system if required - this has to be done to fulfill current requirements.
To sign in for a session, click the button above & type your name in the group you wish to run with.
There is a separate tab for each date.
If you have any coronavirus symptoms, PLEASE STAY AT HOME & don't attend the session.

If you are self isolating, PLEASE STAY AT HOME & don't attend the session.

If you have visited another country & are having to quarantine, PLEASE DON'T ATTEND ANY SESSIONS for the whole of the quarantine period.

Sorry if this seems extremely regimented, but in the current circumstances it is the only way we can resume training & be covered by England Athletics & OMBC.
Under normal circumstances, for regular weekly club training runs, we meet at RRR HQ (Royton Cricket Club) every Monday & Thursday night at 6.45pm.

We have a number of different training groups, running at different speeds designed to suit runners of all standards - click on the links below for contacts & more information. Routes tend to be undulating (this is Oldham after all!), usually off-road in & around Tandle Hill Country Park in the summer & on the roads when evenings are darker.

Runners aged 18 & over of any ability & experience are welcome to come along to give us a try. If you wish to speak to someone beforehand, please contact one of the people listed against these individual groups or someone on our Contacts/Officials page.
All of our training groups are led by volunteers - each of whom has plenty of running experience - with the emphasis on sociable runs rather than 'hard training'. We don't want things to be too regimented, but the safety of all runners is paramount: at least one person in each group should carry a mobile phone in case of emergencies, nobody will be left behind, routes will be chosen to avoid dangerous roads & it is the personal responsibility of EVERY runner to be visible to traffic, wearing reflective clothing especially on darker nights. Please also make sure that you wear appropriate footwear for off-road running when the evenings are lighter. Other than that, it's all about the pleasure of running regularly with like-minded people of a similar standard.
If you are completely new to running, the Royton Road Runners RunTogether group is a great place to start.

You may also be interested in our track sessions on Monday or Wednesday evenings, if you are looking for more formal coaching - these are also designed to help runners of all standards.
