The health & safety of our members & Group Leaders will always be the main priority.

England Athletics (EA) this week issued its latest guidance on a restricted return to activity. This guidance allows for up to 6 people to run together (socially distanced).

We are aware that other clubs are starting to resume training. However it is clear that returning to a central meeting point such as the cricket club & using the group format we know is simply not practical for us as members or the local community.

We are discussing ways that we can start to return to some form of training in the near future, albeit in different format from that we recognise. I am sure you will understand that we do not want to rush into something. Aligning to EA guidance ensures the insurance remains valid; in addition risk assessments & plans for club runs must be in place.

We recognise that members have already started meeting as groups outside of the club. We would just ask that you make yourself aware & follow the spirit of the guidelines for you own health & safety.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to speak to any member of the RRR committee.

Keep safe  & keep running!

For regular weekly club training runs we meet at RRR HQ (Royton Cricket Club) every Monday & Thursday night at 6.45pm.

We have a number of different training groups, running at different speeds designed to suit runners of all standards - click on the links below for contacts & more information. Routes tend to be undulating (this is Oldham after all!), usually off-road in & around Tandle Hill Country Park in the summer & on the roads when evenings are darker.

Runners aged 18 & over of any ability & experience are welcome to come along to give us a try. If you wish to speak to someone beforehand, please contact one of the people listed against these individual groups or someone on our Contacts/Officials page.
All of our training groups are led by volunteers - each of whom has plenty of running experience - with the emphasis on sociable runs rather than 'hard training'. We don't want things to be too regimented, but the safety of all runners is paramount: at least one person in each group should carry a mobile phone in case of emergencies, nobody will be left behind, routes will be chosen to avoid dangerous roads & it is the personal responsibility of EVERY runner to be visible to traffic, wearing reflective clothing especially on darker nights. Please also make sure that you wear appropriate footwear for off-road running when the evenings are lighter. Other than that, it's all about the pleasure of running regularly with like-minded people of a similar standard.
If you are completely new to running, the Royton Road Runners RunTogether group is a great place to start.

You may also be interested in our track sessions on Monday or Wednesday evenings, if you are looking for more formal coaching - these are also designed to help runners of all standards.
