Joined Royton Road Runners in March 2014.

History: I've been running since 2010. RRR is my first club, but I have been a very active member of the Running Bug website for which I've also written kit reviews (receiving some very nice running gear as a result) - although I've not written any reviews for quite a while. I've run a number of events over the last few years, but since joining the club I have raced more than all the previous years combined; there is nothing better than pulling on our vest & running as part of a team.
Proudest achievement: Raising in excess of £3,000 for Chron's and Colitis UK (I have Chron's Disease myself), through running the BUPA Great Manchester 10K in 2012 & 2013 plus my TON-A-MONTH 2014 Challenge - trying to run a minimum of 100 miles every month throughout 2014.
Ambition: To keep running for as long as I physically can. I would also like to get my 5K PB below 22mins & my 10K below 45mins - that might be a pipe-dream though! I would also like to be able to think that I have helped others improve their running along the way & helped them get as much enjoyment from it as I do.
Current training: Run on average five times a week, covering about 30 miles.

Married with two children (one of each).
I have worked as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for 15 years (20 years total service); the company I work for manufactures gas meters & we are at the cutting edge of 'Smart Metering' which you'll have seen on all the British Gas ads...but you don't really want to hear about my job!
Running takes up a lot of my spare time, but any I do have is spent in the garden. I have also researched my family tree & taken my 'Bower' name back to the mid-1600s; my family was in Bradford until the late 1800s when we moved to Wakefield, where I was born.
