Royton Road Runners

Stuart Carroll

BIRTHDAY: 19th February

FIRST CLAIM CLUB: Royton Road Runners

FAVOURITE RACE: Pier To Pier 15K 2007 - perfect weather, perfectly paced, most perfect race run so far. However nothing can beat the atmosphere at the London Marathon.

TOUGHEST RACE: Oldham Half - it was designed by the Devil himself.

FAVOURITE TRAINING RUN: Summer away night around Hollingworth Lake, followed by fish & chips (the diet of champions).

MOST MEMORABLE/PROUDEST RUNNING MOMENT: Crossing the finishing line of my first marathon (London 06, 3:54.26) arm-in-arm with my brother - we had talked about running it since we were kids.

FUNNIEST/MOST EMBARRASSING RUNNING MOMENT: Almost running into a lamp post within the first mile of the Great North Run 05. I saw it just in time & put out my hands, but the noise made when my wedding ring struck the metal post made approx 10,000 runners turn, stare, laugh & gesture 'ouch'! Thankfully it wasn't captured on the telly.

FAVOURITE PRE-RACE MEAL: My wife's home made meat & potato pie.

PRE-RACE SUPERSTITIONS: A little prayer on every start line.

RUNNING AMBITIONS: Sub 3 marathon, Group 1 champion, 2012 Olympics.

IF YOU WEREN'T A RUNNER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE: A heavy smoker.

TELL US SOMETHING NOBODY IN THE CLUB KNOWS ABOUT YOU: I aspire to be the next Chris Eavers.
