SELINA MCLEAN - PROFILE

Joined Royton Road Runners in September 2013.

THE SPORTSWOMAN...
History: Running has always been part of my life. I ran at school, used to love cross-country. Didn't do much in my 20s, then started running twice a week with friends in 2009. It took a dip, with work & life, but then I started entering races in 2011. RRR is the only club I've ever joined - a work colleague who runs with Salford Harriers advised me to give RRR a go. I turned up one Thursday evening in 2013 & I've never looked back!
Proudest achievements: Oldham Half Marathon 2014 (2:03:22 in only my 2nd HM), Rochdale Kingsway 10K (50:33, won a bottle of prize as part of the winning ladies team), Ron Hill Birthday 10K 2014 (23:50), Oldham parkrun PB June 2014 (24:24).
Ambition: I'm not ambitious, I run because I enjoy it. It's my time to be at one with myself. be mindful of my own body, 'in the zone'.
Current training: Usually around 10 miles a week - but recently ran 24.5!

AWAY FROM RUNNING...
Originally from Royton but moved when I married Tony.
Together we have one son who is 14.
I work in Public Health & currently studying for my NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
When not running or working I'm usually driving my son around to chess events - he plays to a high level of which I am very proud.
I love reading, especially psychological thrillers, but I will give anything a go.
