Royton Trail Multi-Terrain Race
The inaugural 5.5 mile Royton Trail race was held on 18th July 2007. 72 runners took part, with David Lockett of Salford Harriers coming home first and setting the first 'course record' at 31mins 53secs.
The 2008 race took place on Wednesday 16th July with an impressive increase in the numbers taking part - 117 finishing the testing course. Ian Grime (Newham & Essex Beagles) came home first in 31mins 55 secs, just missing the course record. Jacqui Dews (Holmfirth Harriers) was the first lady home in a time of 39mins 29secs. Many positive comments were heard in the Tandle Hill Tavern after the race, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!
