Royton Road Runners

Royton Trail Multi-Terrain Race

The inaugural 5.5 mile Royton Trail race was held on 18th July 2007. 72 runners took part, with David Lockett of Salford Harriers coming home first and setting the first 'course record' at 31mins 53secs.

Race numbers increased to 117 in 2008 & 156 on 15th July 2009. Ian Grime (Newham & Essex Beagles) won both races, smashing the course record in 2009 with a time of 30:52, having missed it by just two seconds the previous year. Alison Sedman (Belle Vue Racers) won the 2009 ladies race in 39:13, following in the footsteps of Jacqui Dews (Holmfirth Harriers), the 2008 winner in 39:29. The fastest ladies time remains the 38:52 posted by Lisa Heyes (Horwich RMI Harriers) when winning the 2007 race.

Many positive comments were heard in the Tandle Hill Tavern after the race, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!
