RONNIE GARROD - PROFILE

Joined Royton Road Runners in May 2014.

THE SPORTSMAN...
History: Started running in January 2013.
Proudest achievement: Panning Mohammad Yousaf Butt in the 800m at Trafford; Gary Fielding & Mark Taylor still owe me their houses, wives, children, etc!
Ambition: Sub-20mins 5K & sub-40mins 10K would be nice one day; I also wouldn't mind still being able to run at Ron Hill's age.
Current training: 25-30K per week.

AWAY FROM RUNNING...
Lived in Chadderton most of my life.
Been into IT since I was 19, self-employed for the last 13 years.
Before I started running the only active thing I did was ski (badly!).
I fly as often as I can - I'll never get my licence & maybe that's a good thing as I couldn't afford it, but it's a good way to get rid of stress!
I'm a rollercoaster junkie, rode the Smiler 22 times in 2014 (but not any more, even it it reopens - I like my new legs too much!).
I'm a big fan of The Prodigy, Pendulum, Faithless, Moby - always up for a gig when they are on, you're never too old!
