PAUL ANDERSON - PROFILE

Joined Royton Road Runners officially on 1st February 2017.

THE SPORTSMAN...
History: started running in May 2014 with John Felton, my first parkrun at Oldham. Ran with Greenfield Greyhounds, Oldham & Royton Harriers, then met Selina through Garry's Geek Run & 'saw the light' (Sel's words).
Proudest achievements: Congleton Half Marathon, October 2014 - 2 parkruns, no training & did it in 1:34:24 (still not beaten that time to this day!); Manchester Marathon, April 2015 with John Felton - average training 4 miles per week, much to the amusement of everyone in the car en route to the race (haha), ran it in just over 4hrs.
Ambition: sub-1:30 half marathon, sub-3:15 marathon, then I will be happy.
Current training: about 25 miles a week.

AWAY FROM RUNNING...
From Mossley born & bred.
Was the fat kid at school, hated sport, but at 16 had to get a bike to get to & from work as there were no buses on that route. Cycled at a high level by the time I was 23 & carried on cycling for fun thereafter. Got into cycle coaching at the National Cycling Centre, from balance bikes to elite, including velodrome, road, BMX & mountain biking - this was as well as doing my day job!
