Royton Road Runners

June Allingan

BIRTHDAY: 9th June

FIRST CLAIM CLUB: Royton Road Runners

FAVOURITE RACE: Pier-To-Pier (Blackpool to Fleetwood).

TOUGHEST RACE: London Marathon (but still great).

FAVOURITE TRAINING RUN: The hills of Saddleworth (worth it for the views).

MOST MEMORABLE/PROUDEST RUNNING MOMENT: Completing my first marathon (London) in my 60th year (I'm still on a high).

FUNNIEST/MOST EMBARRASSING RUNNING MOMENT: Being followed in my first ever race (10 miler at St Anne's) by the ambulance for the first five miles until I assured them that I was sure & steadfast (convinced myself that it was my bum they liked the look of).

FAVOURITE PRE-RACE MEAL: Porridge & buttered toast with honey.

PRE-RACE SUPERSTITIONS: Don't like to start right at the back as I think it will finish right at the back (it will work one day).

RUNNING AMBITIONS: To be able to keep up with Lou (at least when she is 'injured') - she is my inspiration.

IF YOU WEREN'T A RUNNER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE? More houseproud - thank goodness for running!

TELL US SOMETHING NOBODY IN THE CLUB KNOWS ABOUT YOU: I once tap-danced in a show with the Roly-Polys (no, I wasn't one of them) & Jimmy Cricket.
