GEORGE MEYNELL - PROFILE

A founder member of Royton Road Runners in February 2003.

THE SPORTSMAN...
History: I've been running since 1960. A short-lived member of Oldham & Royton, I prefer cross-country. I ran 3 marathons in 1981-2, all in less than 4 hours, the best the Piccadilly Manchester Marathon in 3:24.
Proudest achievement: Piccadilly 1981, I was promised that my sponsorship would be doubled if I could break 3:30. I raised £450 for Dr Kershaw's Hospice.
Ambition: Just want to keep running as long as I can.
Current training: 20 miles a week, when I'm fit.
