NEW MEMBERS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Thinking of joining Royton Road Runners? These Q&As may help!
DOES IT MATTER IF I'M NEW TO RUNNING?
Not at all! We have various Training Groups, so we'll start you off with people of a similar standard. Our aim is to help you to enjoy running & develop as far as you want to go.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET STARTED?
Just come along to training on a Monday or Thursday evening (or one of our track sessions) & give us a try. If you would like to speak to someone first, you'll find contact details on the Training Groups & Contacts/Officials pages.

DO I HAVE TO JOIN STRAIGHT AWAY?
No - you're welcome to come along & train with us, no obligation. If you enjoy it & want to continue we'd then encourage you to join & get all the benefits of being a member of Royton Road Runners.

CAN I PAY THE MEMBERSHIP FEE ONLINE?
You certainly can, in fact we'd prefer you to pay this way if possible. Bank details are:
Sort Code: 30-96-26  Account Number: 01306698
Please include your name as the reference.

WHAT IF I'M ALREADY A MEMBER OF AN AFFILIATED CLUB?
It's your choice - if you intend to remain with that club & it is affiliated to England Athletics, you can join Royton Road Runners as a 'second claim' club with a reduced membership fee (currently £30). If you wish to move from your other club, provide details when you complete the Membership Form & our Club Secretary will advise you on the resignation process.

HOW DO I GET A CLUB VEST OR OTHER MERCHANDISE?
Once you've joined, just request any club kit you want via the form on the Purchase Club Kit page of this website. We'll get it to you in your requested size as soon as possible.

WHAT DOES THE MEMBERSHIP FEE COVER?
The annual membership fee covers annual affiliation to England Athletics (£14), membership of Royton Cricket Club (£25, for use of club facilities) & £5 towards the day-to-day running costs of the club (purchase of trophies, social events, subsidised travel to races, etc).

HOW DO I TAKE PART IN CLUB COMPETITIONS?
You will automatically be allocated to a group in the annual RRR Club Championship, based on the times you achieve in your first few races as a Royton Road Runner. For other events - such as cross-country, fell races & relays - you will be invited to take part as details are announced, along with all other club members.

Any other questions? Please contact any of the RRR Committee & we'll be happy to help!
