CLAIRE TIMMS - PROFILE

Joined Royton Road Runners in August 2014.

THE SPORTSWOMAN...
History: Started running in 2014 as I wanted to lose weight. Started on my own with the C25K programme, then got bored running on my own & joined RRR, encouraged by Garry Bower.
Proudest achievement: Doing my first half marathon (Blackpool) before I got to 40. The conditions were awful!
Ambition: To do more 10K races & to get quicker at them.
Current training: Try to run 3 times per week but work/family life sometimes gets in the way.

AWAY FROM RUNNING...
Married to Paul, who initially started me on my path to running.
I have 2 girls aged 16 & 9.
I work as a midwife in Saddleworth.

MY FAVOURITE THINGS...
Training route: any that avoid Broad Lane
Race/event: not done many, but Ribble 10K my favourite so far
Running shoe: Asics
Sportsman/woman: never appreciated athletes until I started running myself; Mo Farah is probably my current favourite
Film: Up
TV: Casualty
Music: Love the '80s! Currently Emile Sande & Ed Sheeran
Food: Italian
Drink: rose wine
Holiday destination: Dominican Republic

FASCINATING FACTS...
I have a rare vascular disorder in my leg, so when I'm seen wearing medical grade leggings in summer it's not a fashion statement.
I wear glasses, but contacts for running.
I got to the final on The Weakest Link but was beaten & missed out on £2,500!
