The winner of a vote by members of Royton Road Runners for their Charity of the Year for 2017 is Crohn's & Colitis UK. This organisation works to make life better for the 300,000 people in the UK with Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Cholitis & other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

The club will aim to raise money for this worthy cause through various events in 2017. If you have any ideas for an event or would like to organise one, please get in touch. If you are doing your own fundraising for this charity (e.g. through sponsorship for running a marathon or other event) please let us know.
In previous years Royton Road Runners has regularly supported Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Royton. Between 2011-2016 we donated more than £12,000 to the hospice, through club events & individual fundraising efforts. We also provided more practical help, including 'community days' spent painting or working on the hospice gardens. After one such event (pictured), Barry Ulyatt from the hospice said, "Everyone did a great job - the fences all look as though they belong to someone now, visitors can park without encountering overhanging shrubs & the front of the hospice is looking far more welcoming. Many thanks to all who helped & to everyone at Royton Road Runners for their fundraising efforts & support, it is very much appreciated."
In 2015 club members raised more than £1,000 for the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team
