All, as I thought, the race has been cancelled, I’ve just received this…………. Dear all, Unfortunately the 2012 Pennine Bridleway Relay is cancelled. There is still lots of hard ice on parts of the route making it unsafe for the race to go ahead safely. We will not be reorganising the event at a later date and despite having already spent several hundred pounds in organising the event we will be returning your entry fee. If you supplied your address when entering online then I will be sending a cheque to that address. I hope that by receiving this email today that this will give you enough time to contact your team members with the news. On behalf of Rossendale Harriers I would like to thank you all for your efforts in entering and organising the teams. Graham Wright ( Chairman) Event Organiser Rossendale Harriers. What a bummer! Could I just thank Bruce for looking after the ‘mixed’ team, I know he has run Saturday & Sunday recces since Christmas helping and encouraging the mixed team out! Good work Bruce! I would also like to thank those who would have stepped in at the last minute in particular Bernie Goodwin, Debbie Shaw, Mandy Hall, Roy miller, Neil Farrell and James Trollope. An alternative relay race this year is the Calderdale way relay, but it clashes with the Chester Half marathon. Maybe something to consider for next year? It would be a shame to waste all the off road training (and the gear which you’ve bought), so the other ‘off road’ series to consider is the ‘Run The Moors’ series, which I am certainly going to be doing, the details of which are on the RRR website. I would be interested to know what you all want me to do with the refund. I won’t be a the AGM tonight, hope see you next week and at the Southport Mad Dog 10k Des.

What a shame! Thanks to you too Des for all the organising & team juggling. Agree about the Calderdale Way Relay - I hadn't realised they were permanently moving it to the summer, but I guess it makes sense. Could definitely be a good one for next year...but maybe just the two teams this time (not least because it's 12 in a team)?!
